Feed My Starving Children
Tonight our troop participated in a fantastic charity called Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) in Aurora. FMSC developed a food product made from chicken flavoring, dehydrated vegetables, soy and rice, that when cooked with water, makes a nutritious meal for those in need around the world. The representative told us that they've shipped their food to 70 countries around the world so far this year! We're not sure where the food we packed will end up, but we know that the recipients will sincerely appreciate the food and the work and love the girls put in to packing it for them.
Our group, along with other volunteers that worked with us, packed 45 boxes of food (36 bags of food in each box), which will feed 27 children for an entire year! Our kids had a blast as they prepared empty bags, filled them with the four types of "food", weighed the bags and then packed the bags in cases. They took great pride in helping children in other countries that are much less fortunate than they are. We even got to sample the food after we were done. What a great night - giving back and having fun doing it. Fantastic job girls!

Happy Birthday
We had fun yesterday celebrating Juliette Low's birthday with many other local Girl Scout troops at Aux Sable Middle School. Some older Girl Scouts did a presentation about the history of Juliette Low, the Founder of Girl Scouts. Then the girls played several Juliette Low-themed games, had a snack, and made a keepsake swap. Much fun was had by all!

Fun and Games
We had fun tonight learning and playing. Miss Carrie did a presentation/lesson about Juliette Low, the original founder of Girl Scouts. Did you know that Ms. Low was an amazing artist, was deaf, and founded Girl Scouts 100 years ago? Yep, it's true. Now when the girls attend the Juliette Low birthday party next week they'll have a few fast facts about her to share with the other girls.Thursday, October 4, 2012
The New Season Begins!
We had our first meeting of the season tonight and got right back into the groove of things. We welcomed two new girls to the group that, like Cami, are Brownies this year (so this year we are a combined Daisy/Brownie troop). For the activity this week the girls made Thank You cards for their teachers to thank them for all they do. As usual, we did our opening and closing ceremonies, and Carrie brought a special snack.

Celebrating Parents
The girls prepared for Mother's Day and Father's Day today by making gifts for their parents. They personalized photo albums (complete with a recorded message to their mom) for their moms and decorated and filled car washing buckets for their dads. We hope you all enjoyed your gifts - the girls worked hard on them!
